In a sign of the strategic importance of the North West to national and international business, the Association of Professional Sales (APS), the leading authority for salespeople, has staged its North West launch in Manchester.

The event, to expand local business networks and hear from accomplished sales leaders, was hosted by telecoms giant Vodafone, at their Wythenshawe offices.

Warren Knight, a digital sales strategist and award-winning technology entrepreneur, talked to the launch meeting about social selling in the digital age.

During his informative presentation, Knight explained a three-step process to turn digital visitors into repeat customers. He said the goal was to allow people to engage with you and your brand on the platform of their choice. And to prove he could engage with his audience, Knight delivered a lesson which proved to be an unlikely winner – how to moonwalk! Something he called a party piece, that people could choose to use, or not, in their social media interactions.

One delegate, Craig Spencer from npower Business Solutions posted his appreciation on LinkedIn: “Had a fascinating day today at the launch of the Association of Professional Sales North West chapter. My favourite speaker was a guy called Warren Knight who not only spoke in an engaging way about digital business transformation but also taught us how to moonwalk!!! Not bad for a Wednesday morning in November!!!”  Click here to see the video on Craig’s LinkedIn post.

Also speaking at the event was APS Managing Director, Alison Matthias on why resilience and grit are important in sales. One delegate praised Alison for some great advice saying: “What I especially liked was how she described success in sales.. about being resilient and having more self belief, which is so true.”

Commenting on the launch, Andrew Hough, Co-CEO of the Association of Professional Sales, said: “We are delighted to be launching the APS in the North West. Manchester and the surrounding region are a business powerhouse and we want to support sales leaders so they can build strong relationships with their customers, develop their own sales teams and ultimately improve the bottom line of British businesses.

“Organisations that recognise the importance of ethical, professional selling, understand that building lasting relationships with their customers is good for revenue.

“We already enjoy successful partnerships around the world in Asia, the US and Europe and are now expanding across the UK to give business professionals the same access to our networks and events that are enjoyed by our membership in London and the South East.

“We really look forward to working with sales professionals across the North West.”

The Association of Professional Sales is the leading authority for salespeople. We are a not-for-profit organisation, reinvesting in our profession to build standards, trust and education.

As the UK heads towards Brexit the APS knows that our ability to sell British products and services has never been more important.

We are now engaging with MPs to promote professional sales across UK businesses and have worked with government and business leaders to establish sales apprenticeships up to degree and master’s level. We are also campaigning for a Royal Charter to give skilled, ethical salespeople the same status as other professions like accountants, lawyers, architects and surveyors.
